As I was strolling down the aisles of the local Goodwills I see remnants of wedding bliss, a chalkboard written with; Let the Adventure Begin, Hugs and Kisses for the new Mr. and Mrs., Mason Jars adorned with diamonds and burlap still attached, vintage candle holders.

Makes me think the local goodwill is actually a treasure trove of great finds for party décor; weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, anniversaries, 40th birthdays and the list can go on and on. But let’s talk about weddings and showers for a moment.

They have 100s if not 1,000s of glassware, vases and jars you could use for centerpieces. Not everything has to be matchy match 100% does it? Using all the same color tones is key with matching candles or ribbons will unite cohesively on a budget.

Candle Holders

Tea pots and bone china teacups once adorned by your grandmothers and their parents are crowding the shelves. They are a nice touch for your garden bridal shower or a Mad Hatter Theme party. Fill them with candles or serve tea in them, either way they are charming and you are reusing them and giving them a new purpose. Something old something new charm.

Tea Pots

Basket are p-l-e-n-t-i-f-u-l, I just look up and see them everywhere, again all shapes and sizes, some even new with tags. Spray paint them all the same color. Fill them with fresh greens from the garden or your neighbor’s garden and flowers, then tie matching ribbons around them. You may even find your flower girls basket here.

Baskets

The picture frames are in abundance, all shapes and sizes. Think display. What displays do you have at a wedding? His and her photos of course. We all want to see how cute you’ll were as a baby, in primary school, playing baseball and being a cheerleader, first dates, and engagement parties you know what I am saying.

What about a memorandum table. Use these picture frames and gather your favorite photos of your loved one no longer present and make copies of the photos. This way you will not spoil the originals nor will they get miss-placed in the clean-up process.

Use larger or poster size frames for signage. Yep you can find them at Goodwill; large and small. Use them for your Welcome (Welcome to the wedding of…) a letter To My Family and Friends (a thank letter), Please find your seat here (directional); Cards received with heartfelt thanks (thanking them for their gifts) Message in a bottle (Advice and wishes) Globes (Guest book alternative) Love makes the world go around, please sign our guest globe.

Friends today I saw picture frames galore, beautiful glass votive, bottles and vases, Longaberger baskets, bone china cups and a world globe that could have been used for just this purpose.

Get your ipads out and make notes on what to look for next time you’re thrift shopping. Keep your eye peeled for Goodwill discount days too. Tea pots, Glassware, Picture Frames, Chalkboards, Vases, baskets, china tea cups and tea pots oh my.  You’re not going to find it all in one trip but then you don’t plan a wedding in 1 day either, so make a listing, keep checking it off and before you know it you will have the perfect décor and you will feel good that you saved money and splurging on that wedding dress.

Best Wishes!

Find signs like I mention here to fill your frames.
